Umrah Manasik (Rites, Rituals & Practices)

The entire practice of Umrah is based on 3 rites, the Ihram, the Tawaf, and the Sa’i. In essence, these rites (especially Sa’i) are performed to commemorate the events related to one of the Arch-Prophets of Allah, Ibrahim (PBUH).

1. Ihram: Once a Muslim enters the state of Ihram, they must wear a certain attire and follow the strict rules of Ihram. They must recite Talbiyah and Takbir before and during Umrah rites right after they enter the state of Ihram.
2. Tawaf: Muslims circle around the Kaa’bah seven times and kiss the black stone (al-Ḥajaru al-Aswad) at least once, or every time they pass it if possible.
3. Sa’i: After Tawaf, Muslims run (or walk at a brisk pace) between Safa and Marwa mountains seven times to complete the final rite of Umrah.
